The Munising area is filled with fall activities for everyoneDay 1 - One with Nature

  • Visit the Welcome Center to find out “What’s new” in Alger County. Get ready for a great day! 501 E M-28, 906-387-2138
  • Pick up your hunting license at Madigan's Hardware down town Munising. 202 Elm Street, 906-387-2033
  • Stretch your legs with a few short walks to Munising Falls and Wagner Falls.
  • Have a hot bowl of homemade Chili at the Country Connection. 205 E. Superior Street, 906-387-4839
  • Expend some calories with a hike through the Hiawatha National Forest. If you time your stay just right, you may pick wild Michigan blueberries or apples.
  • Experience a million dollar sunset over Munising Bay at the Navigator Restaurant. 101 E. Munising, Ave., 906-387-1555
  • It is Friday night and that means high school football. Join the city of Munising as we rally around our Mustangs cheering for the big win! Go Stangs!
  • It's time to check into your hotel of choice. Drop off your bags and immediately head for the hot tub. Your legs and feet will thank you.

Kayaking on inland lakes or Lake SuperiorDay 2 - The Lakeshore

  • Start you day with a great cup of coffee from the Falling Rock Bookstore and Café. 104 E. Munising Ave., 906-387-3008
  • Take and incredible journey on the Pictured Rocks Boat Cruise. Make sure to stop into the gift shop for a gift for Aunt Jane. City Pier, 800-650-2379, 906-387-2379
  • Time for lunch! Nothing can beat a VanLandschoot whitefish sandwich from Sydney's. Stop by the Fish House and take fresh fish home with you. Sydney's M-28 East, 906-387-4076, Fish House Commercial Street, 906-387-3851
  • Take a drive and experience the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Pick up a trail map at the US Park Service. 400 E. Munising Ave., 906-387-2512
  • Bike along the Anna River. Never have you seen such vivid reds, pinks or purples. The poplar trees are golden and make a beautiful rushing sound as you pass them by.
  • Head to the heart of downtown Munising and visit locally owned Putvin's Drug Store. They have all of your camera needs. 119 Elm Street, 906-387-2248
  • For a unique dining experience, head to the Dog Patch. Li'l Abner and all of his friends will be there to greet you. 325 E. Superior Street, 906-387-4067
  • Walk a block down to the Log Jam and have a glass of whatever makes you happy. 127 E. Superior St., 906-387-3737
  • Head down to the Alger County Historical Museum. If you are here for BBQ by the Bay you are in for a treat. 1496 Washington Street, 906-387-4308

Day 3 - Grand Island

  • Wake up before any one else listen for the loons as you sift through the new assortment of rocks and agates washed up along the shore.
  • Visit to the Munising Bakery for a stiff cup of coffee and a delicious home made breakfast or doughnut. 115 W. Superior Street, 906-387-2148
  • Head on over to Grand Island via the Grand Island Ferry service. Grand Island is the home of two unique Lighthouses. Grand Island Landing, 906-387-3503
  • Dive down to the see the shipwrecks in the Alger Preserve. Get close to any of the three ships whose journeys were cut short by the mighty Lake Superior.
  • Warm up at Coffee Cantata with a delicious cup of Friendship Coffee or homemade soup. 118 E. Superior Street, 906-387-3635
  • The afternoon should be spent visiting all of Munising's lovely Antique, Craft or Gift Shops.
  • One last dinner….unless you change your mind and want to stay, because there is still more to do around Munising Bay.
